Coimbatore: Free Electricity Rights Protection Movement protested near Palladam with a black flag demanding the withdrawal of the Central Electricity Amendment Bill-2020. This will lead to a threefold price hike.

This law withdraws free electricity and it will no longer be available for small and marginal farmers, middle class families and the poor. They opined just like how petroleum is priced on a daily basis by those companies that produce and distribute, the electricity companies in the future will decide the prices for electricity. So they said this law can severely affect all people.

Therefore, farmers protested with black flags demanding the repeal of the Central Government's Electricity Amendment Bill-2020 on behalf of the Free Electricity Rights Protection Movement at Kalinathampalayam next to Palladam in Tirupur district.

Farmers from Kalinathampalayam, Akkanam Palayam, Ayyampalayam, Allalapuram and Kuppichipalayam areas participated in the demonstration and raised slogans against the central and state governments.
