The Coimbatore GH is a place that witnesses a lot of people movement and teems with both outpatients and inpatients round the clock.
Recently a slew of cellphone thefts happened in the GH and police were on the lookout as to who could be involved in the robberies. The police arrested Ramesh from Palakkad in connection with this and seven cellphones were retrieved from him.
During the investigation, it was found that he had been working at a bakery for the past two years and has not been able to go back to his home town due to the lockdown. He stays near the GH and eats the free food provided at Amma Unavagam.
With no money in hand, Ramesh started stealing cellphones from the crowded GHon a regular basis. When the public witnessed him trying to sneak away with a few phones today, they informed the hospital staff who apprehended him and alerted the police who then took Ramesh to the police station and conducted an enquiry.
During enquiry, the police retrieved seven cell phones from him. An inquest is on.
