Bharat Sena petitions Coimbatore Collector for permission to celebrate Vinayaga Chathurthi
Coimbatore: Organizers from Coimbatore District Bharat Sena petitioned the District Collector to grant them permission to celebrate the Vinayaga Chaturthi festival safely. They visited the District Collectorate holding the idols of Lord Ganesha aloft.
The festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is one that is celebrated with fervour across the nation including the state of Tamil Nadu where people celebrate it in their homes.
With the COVID lockdown in place, the Tamil Nadu government has banned programmes that necessitate mass gatherings in order to curb the spread of the dreaded virus.
This being the case, Bharat Sena members petitioned the District Collector today seeking permission to conduct the festival in a safe manner. They held idols of Lord Ganesha aloft to add strength to their plea.
Members of the outfit said if accorded approval, they are ready to celebrate the festival in accordance with all the COVID regulations in place. They requested the District Collector to pass their petition to the Government of Tamil Nadu.
