Coimbatore: A 47-year-old man killed himself due to his wife denying him money for alcohol.
Nambirajan (47) works as a fitter in a private company and resides in the LIC housing unit area of Sundarapuram with his wife Selvi (37). With Nambirajan's mother passing away a few days ago, he and his wife went to the Kurichi Lake to perform after-death rituals after which Nambirajan asked his wife for some money to drink alcohol.
His wife refused him the money and they left for home. After a while, Nambirajan came back to Kurichi Lake on his two wheeler and parked it on the banks of the lake. Following this, he jumped into the lake and killed himself. People in the vicinity who observed this informed the Fire department. Firefighters rushed to the spot immediately and retrieved the body of Nambirajan and sent it for autopsy.
A case has been filed regarding this by the Podanur Police and an investigation is on. This incident caused grief amid the family members and relatives of Nambirajan.
