Coimbatore: The renovation of the flower market in the Central Zone of the Coimbatore Corporation was inspected by the Corporation Commissioner J. Shravan Kumar. He ordered the officials to complete the pending work swiftly.

As a part of the COVID-19 prevention measures being undertaken in the city, the Corporation Commissioner conducted a field inspection regarding the COVID-19 prevention measures being undertaken in the East, North and Central zones of the Corporation. Flying squad officials accompanied him.
The Flying Squad officials conducted onsite inspection at the Singanallur Uzhavar Sandhai in the East Zone. They advised the farmers and the public to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.
Municipality sanitation workers on duty near the Singanallur bus stand were educated and advised on the importance of wearing face masks, washing hands frequently and wearing safety equipment while working. They also inspected the quality of food that was being served at the Amma Unavagam in the Masakalipalayam area.
The Corporation Commissioner, along with the Flying Squad members visited the isolated areas of Balan Nagar and Lal Bahadur Nagar in Ward 57 of the East Zone. They ascertained residents from these areas were provided with essentials. They also visited the water tank in the T.J. Nagar area and directed the concerned officials to regulate the supply of water in the area.
Later, the team inspected the repairs being carried out on a broken drinking water pipeline on the Pioneer Mill main road in Ward no. 38 of the North Zone. The Commissioner ordered the work to be completed swiftly. Disinfection being carried out in the isolated area of Ellai Thottam road, Peelamedu was also inspected.
He visited the temporary flower market that has been set up in the Devanga High School ground on Ward no.25 of the Central zone and elaborated regarding the importance of wearing gloves, to the traders. He also provided them with gloves. The Corporation Commissioner also inspected the renovation being undertaken in the flower market and instructed the authorities to complete the work swiftly.
