After remaining COVID free for days, Coimbatore entered the fray and started churning out high numbers. Various restrictions such as closure of parks, theatres, malls and places of worship are in places. Large gatherings have been prohibited.
Coimbatore: Despite various persistent preventive measures from the government, COVID infections keep spreading like wildfire. After remaining COVID free for days, Coimbatore entered the fray and started churning out high numbers. Various restrictions such as closure of parks, theatres,malls and places of worship are in places. Large gatherings have been prohibited.
This being the case, many apartments across the city keep violating the rules blatantly, allege residents.
Readers may recall that Simplicity published a special feature on July 03, 2020 titled "COVID-19 safety norms go for a toss at apartments, allege residents."
In a telling response, Coimbatore Corporation has sent circulars to all the apartments directing them to striclty follow the COVID norms and enforce the requisite preventive measures.
The circular issued by Coimbatore Corporation's North Zone Assistant commissioner, Senthil Kumar Rathinam list the following restrictions:
1. Each and every apartment should maintain a register for visitors.
2. All those who enter the premises should wear mask and maintain social distancing.
3. Security personnel should check their body temperatures regularly using thermal scanners.
4. Lifts and switches for doorbells should be disinfected twice each day.
5. Residents should maintain social distancing while moving within the neighborhood.
6. Milk vendors, newspaper suppliers, vegetable vendors and the like should not enter into the premises.
7. Information pertaining to residents found with COVID symptoms should be immediately passed to the corporation control room.
8. Details of residents/visitors coming from other districts, states and countries should be be intimated to the control room.
9. Meeting halls, gyms, swimming pools and other common recreational areas should be closed.
10. House maids should undergo proper preventive measures when they enter.
The circular has been welcomed by residents of various apartments in the city. This would have indeed made the concerned apartment residents, who were vociferous about the violations, heave a collective sigh of relief.
