Coimbatore: As part of the COVID-19 prevention measures being undertaken in Coimbatore, Corporation Commissioner J. Shravan Kumar has appointed monitoring officers in all the five zones of the Corporation and flying squads have been inspecting shops and conducting field inspections at places where people gather in large numbers.

Shravan Kumar has appointed monitoring officers in all the five zones of the Corporation and flying squads have been inspecting shops and conducting field inspections at places where people gather in large numbers.
A total of Rs.56,550 has been collected from all the five zones of the Corporation from the inspections conducted by the flying squads. Rs.17,500 was collected from 177 shops in the West Zone, Rs.3,700 was collected from 40 shops in the East Zone, Rs.6,100 was collected as fine from 55 shops in the Central Zone, Rs.14,200 was collected from 141 shops in the North Zone and Rs. 15,050 was collected from 252 shops in the South Zone.
Fines were levied on 665 shops for having customers without face masks, not maintaining a registry of the customers, not using disinfectants and not maintaining social distancing, informed the Corporation Commissioner J. Shravan Kumar.
