Coimbatore: According to district health officials, 67 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Coimbatore district, on Monday. With this, the overall tally of COVID cases in Coimbatore has crossed 800.
Of the 67 fresh cases, a whopping 34 positives are from Ayyappa Nagar in Selvapuram. The remaining cases are from multiple areas including Town Hall, Singanallur, Ondipudur, Ganapathy Maa Nagar, KK Pudur, and Vellalore among others.
Readers may remember that this morning, we reported a major cluster of 116 cases from the Selvapuram area. Sources confirm that out of the 200 plus cases subjected to COVID test in the area, 116 people were positive. However, the District bulletin reflects only 35 cases from Ayyappa Nagar in Selvapuram area that has been categorised as a cluster.
"Of the 116, several cases belong to Ashok Nagar near Chetti Veedhi in Selvapuram. The cases not reflected in today's bulletin will be added in subsequent days", said an official source.
