Jyothimani, is a 36-year-old from Veerakeralam, Coimbatore. Her father passed away 20 years ago.
She lives with her elderly mother Rajammal (80) in Madampatti after her brother and sister got married. She had a congenital defect of a single kidney instead of the usual two, which they came to know just 3 years ago when she visited a doctor for an illness. Doctors declared she had just one kidney, which is not properly located as well.

She started taking medications for the condition. The news about Jyothimani was broadcast on television. Following this, she received a cheque for Rs 25,000 for medical assistance from the district collector's fund.
Speaking to us later, Jyotimani said with a monthly medical expenditure of Rs 6,000 and rent 800, she is struggling to make both the ends meet.She said that she manages to sell 50 tender coconuts a day and that the supplier is kind enough to provide them at a discounted price.
She thanked the district collector for the financial aid provided from his fund and said it will carry her through for four months.
