Out of the 4,280 positives today, Chennai registered a whopping 1,842 pushing the state capital's overall tally to 66,538. The neighbouring districts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur continue to display high numbers too.
The Nilgiris and Tirupur recorded 5 and 2 new cases, respectively as a result of which, overall counts have risen to 123 and 198.
The state managed to discharge 2,214 patients on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries to 60,592.
