Removal of the demolition waste has been geared up and is underway full swing now.
Due to the implementation of Smart City projects, more than 1,300 houses built on encroached land at Muthannankulam on the Thadagam Road were demolished by Coimbatore Corporation officials.
The residents have been provided alternative housing at places including Malumichampatti, Keeranatham and Kaapikadai. Meanwhile, the vacant houses were demolished under the supervision of Coimbatore Corporation officials.
The demolition work has been halted due to a stay from the Court. Although the demolition work has come to a halt, the removal of waste is being carried out now.
An official with the Corporation said, "The waste is being removed in lorries and the work will be completed soon."
