Coimbatore: Coimbatore today witnessed the highest number of cases registered in a single day by a wide margin. Before the lockdown was opened, Coimbatore had a total of 141 cases over the span of 60 days. Today alone, we have more than half the number of cases as we had totally during the lockdown.

From a one-year-old male to 79-year-old female, there were cases across all age groups today. Out of the 74 new cases, Coimbatore Corporation has reported 42 new cases, 3 from Sulur, 1 from Sultanpet, 2 from Pollachi and 3 from Thudiyalur block. There were also 23 cases that didn’t mention which block they belong to.
Out of the 74 cases, 13 were categorised as high-risk contacts, 18 were reported as cluster, 4 were categorised under imported cases, 36 were indigenous cases / no travel history and 1 under low-risk contact.
Out of these cases, 10 samples collected at private hospitals, 13 in the ESI Hospital, 6 at the Airport, 1 in Thudiyalur PHC, 6 in VVM Home PHC, 8 in Thondamuthur PHC, 4 in Peelamedu PHC, 11 in Selvapuram, 4 in Podanur PHC, 3 in Nanjundapuram PHC, 2 in RK Bhai PHC, 1 in Chandrapuram PHC, 3 in CMCH, 1 in Vilankuruchi PHC and one in Pollachi GH were declared positive.
