The petition was filed to the District Collector on behalf of the IT union, Forum for IT Employees, headquartered in Chennai. Bharathidasan, who works at CTS in Coimbatore's Special Economic Zone, filed a petition alleging that IT companies are involved in lay-offs during the curfew due to coronavirus.
He alleges that CTS is involved in laying off employees due to the coronavirus, which employs 12,000 people at the CTS in Coimbatore.
He said that the CTS is forcibly evicting and forcing out experienced workers and added that the workers in the area are suffering from severe depression and economic hardship. CTS's move would result in thousands of IT employees losing their livelihood, he said
He went on to state that the matter has been taken up by the Labour Welfare Department and the Tamil Nadu Government. He demanded that Tamil Nadu Government should take immediate action to ensure the livelihood of IT workers.
