Under the orders of the Corporation Commissioner, flying squads monitor shops and places which people frequently visit.
On the inspections undertaken by the flying squads in all the five zones of the Corporation on July 3, 2020, a total of Rs.72,750 has been collected in fines for violation of COVID norms. Rs.22,500 from 199 shops in the West Zone, Rs.5,300 from 63 shops in the East Zone, Rs.7,900 from 98 shops in the Central Zone, Rs.19,450 from 138 shops in the North Zone and Rs.17,600 from 180 shops in the South Zone was collected in fines.
Nearly 650 plus shops were fined for not ensuring the use of face masks, not maintaining a registry of customers, not using disinfectants and not maintaining social distancing, informed the Corporation Commissioner J. Shravan Kumar.
