Coimbatore: Around 5,000 fever camps are going to be held across the district to check for coronavirus in the Coimbatore district. An advisory meeting was held at the District Collector's Office on Coronavirus Prevention. Minister SP Velumani, who participated in the consultation, advised on the intensification of preventive measures.

He said the coronavirus prevention measures are being carried in war footing in Coimbatore. He added that 4655 beds have been installed in various locations including CODISSIA and that there are 13 checkpoints in the district.
The minister said that 5000 fever camps would be held throughout the district to check for coronavirus in the Coimbatore district. He added that the infected are provided with quality food and the COVID-19 is under complete control in the city,
He said public cooperation has gone down a bit and Coimbatore does not need lockdown as the situation is under control. Minister accused that a few persons are spreading rumours that lockdown was not instituted in Coimbatore due to his daughter's wedding. He pointed out that she is still in school.
He requested the public to wear masks and be aware of the current scenario.
The Minister reiterated social distancing at stores. He also said businesses should comply with regulations. He added that since Siddha therapy has anti-inflammatory and immune boosting characteristics, siddha medical kits are being supplied in Coimbatore.
Answering why ration shops charge for items other than rice, he said that it cannot be resolved district wise, since only the state has the say in it. He said the issue will be discussed with CM. It is to be noted that CM has announced free ration supplies for this month too. Later, he inspected the 400 bedded ward in CODISSIA.
