Coimbatore zone operates 35 government buses for the convenience of government employees
Coimbatore: For the convenience of government employees, 35 government buses are being operated in the zone. The Government of Tamil Nadu has announced that bus services will be stopped from July 1.
Accordingly, government buses in Coimbatore are not operated for public use. Due to this the bus stands in Singanallur, Gandhipuram and Ukkadam wear a deserted look.
According to Transport Corporation officials, 27 buses are operated from Coimbatore to Pollachi and rural areas and from Gandhipuram central bus station to Mettupalayam municipal and rural areas for government employees. Similarly, 4 buses are operated in Ooty and 4 in Tirupur.
