The Government of Tamil Nadu is taking various measures to control the coronavirus infection. Accordingly, on behalf of the Coimbatore district administration, several preventive measures are being undertaken. The infection started rising as people from other states, districts including Chennai came into Coimbatore. With the rail and flights cancelled, the number of infections has come down.
In addition, people who have already been tested for coronavirus infection have been advised to isolate themselves and tests are being carried out on the families of people who have been infected, those who live nearby and those who were in contact with them.
The District Collector inspected the 9 containment zones in the city including Telugupalayam, Selvapuram Housing Unit, Gandhi Park Telugu Street, Iyappanagar and Chetty Veedhi, today, and directed the officials to vigilantly monitor the area and asked the revenue officers to ensure essentials are provided and their health is regularly monitored. He also ordered for disinfection of the areas regularly.
