Coimbatore: An elephant which supposedly came out of the forest in search of food and water was found dead with blood oozing out of its ears in Mettupalayam. The Forest department has launched an investigation to determine the cause of death.

Wild herds from the Nellimalai forest near Mettupalayam frequent the agriculture farms and villages nearby. In this case, a female elephant was found in the dead in mysterious circumstances in a field near Thekkampatti.
The elephant was found dead in Ramasamy's farm located behind Bathrakaliamman temple. Since there was blood oozing from its ears, the forest officials suspect foul play and have launched an inquest.
