In line with the state government's COVID guidelines, the Coimbatore District Administration has also been undertaking various measures to control the spread of the disease.
Factories, jewellery stores, restaurants, and grocery stores among other businesses have been asked to ensure the use of face masks and the maintenance of social distancing among employees and customers. AC usage has been banned 100% as well.
Speaking about the visit, Senthil Kumar V of Sumangali Jewellers in Raja Street, which was one of the stores the collector visited, “it was surprising but good to have the inspection. Good to see the collector personally carry out the inspections. It was good to get verified by the Collector that we are following the rules 100%. "
This being the case, the private shops in the Townhall area were inspected by the District Collector in person. He also advised the shop owners to ensure that social distancing is being maintained in the shops, conduct temperature checks on the customers, use hand sanitizers, provide soap oil and other hand washing facilities and follow the government-issued guidelines to prevent the spread of the disease.
