Kannan hails from Kamakshipuram near Irugur in Coimbatore. He was working in a private company in Arasur. He had been suffering from fever for the past two days. He lamented to friends and family that he has contracted coronavirus. He also stated that he was going to take his own life.
This being the case, Kannan, who left the house at around 10 am this morning, did not return post noon. His relatives who were suspicious went looking for him. Upon receiving information that a youth was found dead near Irugur railway station, they rushed to the spot and found that it was indeed Kannan.
Police investigations have revealed that Kannan committed suicide by throwing himsef in front of a freight train bound for Coimbatore. Railway police have registered a case and are investigating. The incident where a youth took his own life suspecting he was infected with coronavirus has saddened everyone in the area.
