Coimbatore: Differently abled persons in Coimbatore district with Unique Disability ID (UDID) can receive Rs.1000 as COVID-19 relief fund, informed the District Collector K. Rajamani.
In a press release issued by the District Collector, he stated, "The TN government has been undertaking various measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, the government is also working intently to revive the economic status of the people and has been providing the poor and needy with relief measures during the lockdown. With the lockdown being extended now, taking the welfare of the differently abled people into account, the CM has ordered for Rs.1,000 relief fund to be provided to the differently abled people. This fund will be provided to the 13.5 lakh differently abled people who have UDID."
He added, "Differently abled people in Coimbatore District can receive the welfare fund from the Village Administrative officer . Those who receive the relief fund must furnish the original UDID and submit a copy of the same to the VAO. All the required information to fill the distribution form must be provided by the differently abled person/guardians. This includes the personal information of the person receiving the relief fund, educational qualification, National Identity Card and UDID application status."
"The VAO must enter the provision of the relief fund into a registry with the national ID card on the page where relief offered is noted and affix his signature. The relief amount will be provided as two Rs.500 currency noted. This will be provided at the residence of the differently abled person from July 3 to July 10, 2020 between 10 AM to 5.45 PM.

If anybody does not receive the welfare fund, the State helpline number 18004250111 can be contacted. The funds will be handed over only to the differently abled person or his or her parents and to the guardian of the person.
The differently abled persons, who are not from the district, should send their details along with the copies of national identity card and medical certificate to the Differently Abled Welfare Officer for the district. The guidelines for providing the welfare fund to such people will be issued separately.
Since the government has a separate allocation for the welfare funds for the differently abled people, all persons in this sector will receive welfare without fail.
