Coimbatore: Police have filed a case against the shop owner who opened his store after it was sealed by the corporation authorities. Ganesh owns a cloth shop in Masakalipalayam, Coimbatore. South Tahsildar sealed the shop on June 24, claiming that the store did not follow norms issued for the lockdown.

Meanwhile, the corporation officials received information that Ganesh broke open the seal and has started doing business. Following this, corporation officials and revenue officials who went to the shop found it open for business.
It is to be noted that an employee of the store has been diagnosed with COVID, which allegedly resulted in 21 new cases in the area. East Zone Assistant Corporation Commissioner Selvam reported at the Peelamedu police station and also declared the area isolated.
Based on the case filed by corporation assistant commissioner Selvam, Peelamedu police registered a case against Ganesh.
