Alarmingly, single-day COVID death tolls have been high too. The state registered 60 COVID fatalities today (16 and 44 deaths in private and government hospitals, respectively)
Out of the 3,943 positives today, Chennai logged a whopping 2,393 carrying the state capital's overall tally to 58,327. The neighbouring districts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Tiruvallur continue to record high numbers too.
Districts across the state including Madurai, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Villupuram, Thiruvarur, Thoothukudi, Ranipet, Salem, Sivagangai, Nagapattinam, Krishnagiri, and Dindigul, among others, have started showning more positive numbers too.
The districts of The Nilgiris and Tirupur recorded 7 and 20 new cases, respectively, pushing the overall tallies there to 89 and 180.
The state discharged 2,325 patients on Tuesday, taking the total number of recoveries to 50,074.
