Following the district of Erode, the Nilgiris has COVID-19 under better control in the state: District Collector
The Nilgiris: District Collector Innocent Divya said that Nilgiris district has COVID-19 under better control next to Erode district in Tamil Nadu. Out of 16,000 PCR tests, only 84 have tested positive for the virus.
For the first time in Tamil Nadu, a village panchayat rally was held in Nanjanad area of Nilgiris to create COVID awareness.

The meeting was held in the presence of District Collector Innocent Divya, headed by Nilgiris District COVID-19 Prevention Special Officer Supriya Sahu.
Records were issued to identify new persons arriving at the villages, including the address and health status of the new arrivals. The residents of the village were requested to call the toll free number 1077 to inform new arrivals. Speaking on the occasion, District Collector Innocent Divya said: "So far as COVID control goes, Nilgiris district has it under better control in the state following the district of Erode."
She added that the majority of infections spread from the single source of a private factory and people need not panic as the spread has been brought under control.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, COVID-19 Prevention Special Officer Supriya Sahu said that for the first time in Tamil Nadu a village panchayat-level awareness meeting was conducted in Nanjanad and that it was a new initiative.
