Veerappan (89) of the Nallappan street in Wellington, Coonoor passed away on June 22 due to old age. The medical team that examined him found he was not COVID positive. Following this, the mortal remains of Veerappan were buried at the Wellington cemetery with the usual COVID norms being followed.
The video of this burial was spread in social media stating that the old man had died due to COVID-19 and that his burial was done without proper safety measures.
Investigating the news, the police have filed cases against Karthik and other admins for spreading fake news.
The police warned, "People spreading fake news on social media and creating panic among the public will be dealt with severely."
