Coimbatore: BJP state leader L Murugan has accused the opposition parties, including DMK, of engaging in politics in the Sathankulam issue.
He met with reporters at Ganapathy in Coimbatore. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the party members are doing a door-to-door canvassing on the achievements of the BJP government's one-year tenure.
The central government has allocated Rs 1.75 lakh crore in aid during the curfew and food has been provided to 35 lakh people through Modi Kitchens. He said that the oil companies are solely responsible for the hike in the price of petrol and diesel. He also said that action had to be taken against the police in the Sathankulam issue and that it was politicized by the opposition parties including DMK.
He accused MP Kanimozhi of making an issue over the Sathankulam custodial deaths and pointed that she did not attend MLA Anbalagan's funeral but travelled all the way to Sathankulam just to politicize the issue. He also blamed her for instigating a law and order situation in the state. He added it is not fair to blame the entire department for the mistake of few officers
"We welcome the transfer of Sathankulam case to the CBI, and we will welcome another lockdown if it is necessary to curb the spread of the virus," he said.
