Coimbatore: The Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam (TPDK) staged protests all over the state against the Central Government's decision to bring the Cooperative banks under the ambit of RBI.
Protests were held in front of the Coimbatore District Central Cooperative Bank in front of the Railway station.
Speaking at the protest, the TPDK General Secretary K. Ramakrishnan said, "If the Cooperative banks come under the control of the RBI the jewellery loans being availed easily by the public will start facing bottlenecks. The powers of the State government are being snatched by the Central government and the job opportunities for the Tamils will also become questionable due to this", he noted.
He reiterated that the Central Government should give up the plan to bring the Cooperative banks under the RBI.
