Tirupur: Coronavirus Prevention Special Officer Gopal said that 16,900 tests have been done in Tirupur till date and setting up camps in Taluks have been advised.
Gopal had been appointed as a special officer by the Government of Tamil Nadu to monitor the coronavirus prevention proceedings in Tirupur district. He visited the isolation camps organized at government schools and wedding halls in Tirupur district today.
Speaking on the occasion, he said 150 positives have been identified in the district and some areas have been declared as containment zones. He said that isolation camps have been set up at four places in Tirupur. He added that setting up camps in taluk level to accommodate 1,500 to 2,000 beds is under advisement.
He added that 16,900 PCR tests have been carried out so far in Tirupur and there are chances that the tests might increase in the near future. He said that the district administration is making preparations to treat patients in government hospitals.
Administrative officials including District Collector Vijayakarthikeyan and Corporation Commissioner Sivakumar were present.
