Ill elephant near Mettupalayam released after treatment


Coimbatore: A tusker that was found lying ill elephant near Sirumugai was released into forest after treatment.

In the Pethikuttai area near Bhavanisagar water reservoir, an ill male tusker was found lying ill.

On arrival at the scene, the Sirumugai forest department summoned a veterinary team to treat the jumbo. A three-member medical team led by veterinarian Sugumar treated the sick elephant with glucose, immunity medication and nutritional supplements.

Last night, after three hours of treatment, the elephant got up and went back into the forest.
