The Chief Minister held a discussion with a panel of doctors and health experts today on the extension of lockdown in Tamil Nadu. The committee said that over 80% of the infected have mild symptoms, that the increase in the number of positives is because of the increase in the rate of testing and there is no need to panic.
The experts said the doubling rate has come down, which is a good omen and the mortality rate has decreased too. They have recommended increasing the rate of testing in Trichy, Madurai, Vellore and Thiruvannamalai. They said someone, who turns insensitive to taste and smell, should immediately go to a fever clinic and examine themselves.
The experts opined that public cooperation is necessary to control the spread of coronavirus and reiterated that if a person displays symptoms, he or she should be isolated immediately. They added that public transport should be regulated.
The committee remarked that lockdown is not the only solution and it is just not possible to keep piling a lockdown upon another. They added only certain districts need restrictions while others with low numbers do not.
