Coimbatore: TN passengers who flew from Dubai to Kochi have been halted at the Walayar check post by the TN Revenue Department due to the lack of E-passes.
The TN government has been undertaking various measures to bring back people from the state who are stranded abroad in these times of the pandemic. Tamils from Dubai, Saudi Arabia and many other countries are being brought back into the country via flights.
A flight carrying passengers from Dubai and Saudi Arabia landed at the Kochi airport yesterday morning. They were sent in a private vehicle up to Walayar checkpost on the TN-Kerala border. However, the police and the Revenue department officials did not let them pass through as they did not hold proper E-passes. The travellers, however, informed them that they had applied for E-passes two days ago but had not received them yet.
Further, they also informed that they had been struggling with their luggage and lack of food for the past two days. They assured that they would quarantine themselves and follow the requisite guidelines if allowed to enter the state.
Following this, the Madukkarai Tahsildar Saranya spoke to them and permitted five people at a time to enter the state.
