Road widening and laying of barriers are being carried out at various places in Pollachi Road, Sholayar Dam Road, Karumalai Road, Cinchona Road, etc on behalf of the Highway Department in Valparai, Coimbatore District.
With this being the case, the construction in the Pollachi-Karumalai road is nearing completion. With southwest monsoon currently lashing in the Valparai area, the road has cracked in several places and is also severely dented.
Motorists have urged immediate action as there is danger of the hill road collapsing due to landslides because of the heavy rains. They demanded that a warning sign be placed at the entrance of the road and swift completion of repairs.
