The number of coronavirus positives in Tirupur district continues to rise. Officials keep advising the public to wear masks areas and follow social distancing. Shops and industrial establishments have been urged to take safety measures.

Last Sunday, stalls selling fish, meat, and vegetables at Thennampalayam market were crowded with no social distancing followed. Following, small scale traders were not allowed in the market.

Following this, flying squads were formed to ensure the COVID norms are being met. Based on this, a squad headed by Health officer Ramachandran inspected the Pichampalayam area. It was found that the customers and traders alike violated the norms of face masks and social distancing.

Following this, the shopkeepers who did not adhere to the requisite norms were fined Rs. 500 and warned of stringent action.
