45-day-old infant tested positive for COVID-19 undergoes intestinal surgery at Coimbatore ESI hospital
Coimbatore: A team of doctors at ESI Hospital here have successfully operated on a COVID-19 positive, 45-day-old baby suffering from a gastro-intenstinal issue, on Friday.
According to reports, the infant has been suffering from congenital pyloric stenosis, an uncommon condition in infants that blocks food from entering the small intestine.
The child was admitted in a private hospital with complaints of vomiting. Duing examination the infant was diagnosed with congenital pyloric stenosis and shockingly tested positive for COVID-19, on June 24.
As surgical intervention was needed, the infant was shifted from the private hospital to ESI hospital for surgery and COVID treatment.
The infant is reported to be recuperating well after the surgery, the doctors confirmed.
