COVID-19: Single-day spike records tumble as the day’s tally reaches a new high; 3,645 cases in TN
Tamil Nadu registered as many as 3,645 new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday. The spike today upended the previous day's tally.
The number of recorded positive cases increased today from Thursday’s 3509 the highest in a day so far. With Friday’s figures, the total number of recorded cases in the State stands at a whopping 74,622.
Continuing to be the major cradle for Coronavirus, Chennai steadily maintains its position right at the top of the chart. The state capital recorded 1,956 positives today.
Even as the numbers keep skyrocketing, other districts across the state including Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Coimbatore, Ranipet, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Salem, Theni, and Vellore, among others, have entered the fray with positives increasing day in and day out.
The total number of deaths climbed from 911, recorded on Thursday, to 957 a day later.
The districts of Tirupur and the Nilgiris registered 14 and 7 new cases, respectively.
As many as 1358 were discharged today after recovering from COVID-19, bringing the number of successfully treated patients to 41,357.
