Coimbatore: A hospital in Karamadai has been closed down due to COVID-19 exposure from a patient who had been admitted to the hospital for surgery.

Sowmiya Hospital at Kannaarpalayam near Karamadai admitted a 55-year-old woman patient from the same area for surgery yesterday. Upon admission, she was tested for COVID-19 and the results came back positive today.
Consequently, the hospital discharged all the other inpatients hurriedly. They were sent back to their houses immediately. The District Administration has ordered that the hospital be closed down for a week.
The Health department and the Chikkarampalayam Panchayat used fire department vehicles and sprayed disinfectants all over the hospital in a bid to control the spread of the virus. Additionally, the area where the woman resides has also been sealed and sanitary measures have been accelerated.
