Coimbatore: The suspicious deaths of a father-son duo, who were under judicial custody in Sathankulam of Tuticorin district has sparked tension amid the traders association who have called for a shop closure protest across the state, today.
Coimbatore: The suspicious deaths of a father-son duo, who were under judicial custody in Sathankulam of Tuticorin district has sparked tension amid the traders association who have called for a shop closure protest across the state, today.
Standing in solidarity with the traders union, a majority of department and grocery shops in Coimbatore remain closed, on Friday.
Expressing their support, medical shops in the city closed their shops till 11 AM, today. And, as announced by the hotel and bakery association, hotels and bakeries will remain closed till 12 noon today, in support of the protest announced by the Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangam Peramaippu.
The Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangam Peramaippu has demanded the TN government to pay Rs.1 crore as compensation to the family of the deceased.
The deceased Jayaraj and his son Bennix, 31 of of Sathankulam were booked by the police on June 19, for violating curfew and for keeping their shop open till late in the evening on June 19. Additionally, they were also booked for allegedly assaulting the police.
