The CM lauded that meticulous implementation of COVID-19 prevention measures has helped contain the virus spread in Coimbatore district.
Briefing on the numbers, the CM informed that till date, 36,905 people have been subjected to COVID tests in Coimbatore and 292 cases have been identified as positives off which 112 are currently under treatment at the ESI hospital.
"Every day around 2,000 people are being tested for the infection at 10 testing centers across the district. Hence, the spread of the virus is well under control in Coimbatore", he added.
The CM also reassured the people that there is no community spread in the State and they need not panic. He also accused the opposition leader MK Stalin for instilling fear amid the people during such an unprecedented pandemic.
According to the health officials, 28 new cases were reported today in the district. While few cases were with travel history to Chennai, Doha and other States, the majority of them have been categorised as "cluster" or "high risk contact", which indicates that they had been in touch with a COVID positive patient or belong to the same area where a patient tested positive for COVID-19.
