Coimbatore: On the third day of inspections at the state and district borders, 53 vehicles have been seized for not having an E-pass or carrying more than the permitted number of persons.
With Chennai closing its borders due to the lockdown the Coimbatore police under the guidance of West Zone IGP Periaiah, DIG Coimbatore Range Karthikeyan, DSP Sujith Kumar are undertaking action and have intensified vehicle checks in all the state and district borders.
On June 21, 25 vehicles were seized and on June 22, 54 vehicles were seized by the Coimbatore police.
Similarly, on June 23, the check posts at Thekkalur, Kanjapalli, Walayar, Kangayampalayam and Gopalapuram seized 19 four wheelers and 16 two wheelers for not having an E-pass and 18 four wheelers were seized for carrying more than the permitted number of passengers. A total of 53 vehicles were seized on the third day of checks.
The Coimbatore Police is intent on conducting these checks continuously and the public have therefore been requested to avoid such violations thereby avoiding such difficult situations.
