Coimbatore: Valparai MLA Kasthuri Vasu led a COVID-19 awareness campaign among the Valparai tea estate workers.
More than 50,000 employees are engaged at Valparai Tea plantations. With the rapid spread of COVID-19 becoming a major threat, the MLA raised awareness regarding the safety precautions to be followed to prevent the spread of the disease among the tea plantation workers.

The use of face masks and washing hands with soap was insisted upon. Similarly the need to maintain social distancing with a space of three feet among the public was reiterated.

Prior to this, the tea estate workers welcomed the MLA with a shawl. The workers were presented with face masks.
Valparai Trade Union President Hameed, District Secretary Mayil Ganesan, Pon Ganesh, Salauddin, party executives and tea estate workers took part in the event.
The Valparai MLA also visited the Valparai Government Hospital and inquired the doctors as to their work-related grievances.
