Coimbatore: A luxury bus that came to Tamil Nadu from Rajasthan with fake E-passes was caught at a vehicular inspection at the Karumathampatti checkpoint in Coimbatore.
As there has been an increase in the number of visitors from outside districts and states using fake E-passes, District Collector K. Rajamani has ordered the intensification of inspections at checkpoints within the Coimbatore district limits.
Officers were conducting regular vehicle inspections at the Karumathampatti checkpoint this morning during which a luxury bus heading to Coimbatore came from Rajasthan. Upon inspection, it was revealed that the E-pass they were using was fake.
It was also revealed that the pass, which was in the name of a Sukaram, was converted into a vehicle pass and stuck on the vehicle. The passengers travelled from Rajasthan through Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka and tried to enter Tamil Nadu using fake e-passes.
Immediately, the 30 passengers on the bus were checked for COVID-19. Karumathampatti police, who seized the bus, are investigating the matter. The Aadhaar number used to produce the forged pass is under scrutiny.
