An autorickshaw campaign to raise awareness regarding the spread of COVID-19 was inaugurated by the Coimbatore District Collector K. Rajamani. Loudspeaker announcements will be made with the help of autos to spread awareness regarding the disease.
Coimbatore: An autorickshaw campaign to raise awareness regarding the spread of COVID-19 was inaugurated by the Coimbatore District Collector K. Rajamani. Loudspeaker announcements will be made with the help of autos to spread awareness regarding the disease.
"400 autos will be used all over the district to raise awareness" said the District Collector while speaking to the press and further said, "The increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 in the district is mainly due to the people arriving from other states and districts. 17,000 people who have arrived from other places to Coimbatore have been quarantined at their homes. Severe action will be taken on those who happen to roam outside while being quarantined. All the state and district borders are being monitored vigilantly."
"2,000 people are being tested for COVID-19 each day in Coimbatore. 10 people have tested positive for the disease today. another lockdown is not necessary for Coimbatore", he informed.
The District Collector also announced that flying squads including members of the Corporation and the Revenue department have been formed to monitor those who violate the COVID restrictions.
