Public playing at RS Puram Burial Ground in Coimbatore made to take COVID-19 pledges by Tahsildar; playground sealed
Coimbatore: Despite the rapid proliferation of COVID-19, people continue to disregard the danger and the requisite norms. Many continue to crowd places such as playgrounds with little to no respect for social distancing, masks, etc.
On one such place, the Burial ground in RS Puram, revenue officials made a surprise check under the auspices of Tahsildar South, Arul Murugan. They found more than 200 people, adults and children alike, playing various games with no regard for the norms whatsoever. The officials rounded the violators and made them sit on the ground.
The Tahsildhar then spoke to the crowd about how they stand chances to be exposed to the Coronavirus and become COVID-19 carriers unwittingly. He taught them how to protect themselves from those who are vulnerable to the disease. All of them were made to take COVID-19 safety pledges.
With increasing COVID-19 positives day in and day out, people are at the risk of contracting the virus when they play contact sports such as cricket and football in public places. South Zone Tahsildar Arul Murugan pointed this out to the lot and appealed to them to always follow the COVID guidelines and rules.
The act of the Tahsildar spreading awareness to over 200 people has garnered appreciation from many quarters.
