COVID-19: 17 new cases in Coimbatore; 4 cases each from Nanjundapuram and Gandhipuram

Coimbatore: The increasing COVID cases in Coimbatore has set the alarm bells ringing for people here to be more cautious and thoroughly adhere to the safety norms proposed by the health department. With officials of various departments working 24/7 to contain the spread of the virus, new cases mostly those with travel history from high risk places like New Delhi and Chennai is a real cause for concern.

With officials of various departments working 24/7 to contain the spread of the virus, new cases mostly those with travel history from high risk places like New Delhi and Chennai is a real cause for concern.

With 17 testing positive in the city today, the areas they were residing has been cordoned off by the corporation and health officials.

Details of patients who tested positive, today:

1. A 21-year-old female from 4th street Gandhipuram categorised as “High risk contact”.

2. A 43-year-old female from 4th street Gandhipuram categorised as “High risk contact”.

3. A 23-year-old male from 4th street Gandhipuram categorised as “High risk contact”.

4. A 52-year-old female from 6th street Gandhipuram categorised as “High risk contact”.

5. A 23-year-old male from Kurumbapalayam with travel history from Delhi to Coimbatore Indigo flight.

6. A 24-year-old female from Kamatchipuram, Ondipudur with travel history of Chennai to Coimbatore, Spicejet SG501.

7. A 43-year-old male from Nanjundapuram with travel history from Delhi to Coimbatore Indigo flight.

8. A 8-year-old female from Nanjundapuram with travel history from Delhi to Coimbatore Indigo flight.

9. A 14-year-old female from Nanjundapuram with travel history from Delhi to Coimbatore Indigo flight.

10. A 40-year-old female from Nanjundapuram with travel history from Delhi to Coimbatore Indigo flight.

11. A 65-year-old male from Ramanthapuram with no travel history.

12. A 35-year-old male from Kasturipalayam categorised as “High risk contact”.

13. A 60-year-old female from Kasturipalayam categorised as “High risk contact”.

14. A 11-year-old male from Kasturipalayam categorised as “High risk contact”.

15. A 10-year-old male from RS Puram with travel history to Chennai via road.

16. A 29-year-old male from Church Street, Edayarpalayam with travel history from Chennai to CBE via flight on June 21.

17. A 25-year-old female from Church Street, Edayarpalayam with travel history from Chennai to CBE via flight on June 21.
