The Podanur branch of D Mart has been sealed by the Madukkarai Tahsildar Saranya and the team of officials led by her when they conducted inspections at the store.
The authorities informed that, "There was no social distancing being maintained inside the shop and face masks were not worn. Violation of these government guidelines is the reason for the shop to be sealed.
Further, a doctor from the Malumichampatti area who was at Madurai for his higher studies was confirmed with COVID-19 infection. When questioned regarding his movement, he informed that he had been to the DMart at Podanur thrice. They were warned even then and asked to follow the government issued guidelines.
However, they failed to do so and have been working with the motive of profits alone. That is the reason the shop has been sealed."
Customers inside the shop were sent out and Podanur Police Inspector Maheshwaran and the authorities sealed the shop in the presence of the Madukkarai Tahsildar Saranya.
