Four streets in Gandhipuram sealed due to COVID-19 scare; shops in the area closed down

Four streets in Gandhipuram including important streets such as the Third, Fourth and Tenth have been sealed with tin sheets.

Coimbatore: Four streets in Gandhipuram including important streets such as the Third, Fourth and Tenth have been sealed with tin sheets.



The number of COVID-19 cases has been soaring in the district. Due to this, certain areas in Coimbatore have been closed down with tin sheets to restrict the movement of people. Streets Third, Fourth and Tenth and Nehru Street of Cross-Cut roadhave been closed down completely.



Late last week, GRT jewellery shop in the same area was closed down and three of its employees tested positive for COVID-19. Now the proprietor of Chennai mobiles has been tested positive for COVID-19. Due to this, the area has now come under the radar and permission to enter into the streets is being denied. Tin sheets have been placed to close down the place. All shops inside these streets have been asked to down their shutters due to this.

Additionally, a 10 year old boy from Chennai who exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 stayed at a hotel in Nehru Street. Now that the boy has tested positive, Nehru Street has also been closed down.
