Coimbatore: Following the traders-Tahsildar meet held at Valparai, decision to keep shops open from 7 AM to 5 PM in Valparai was made.

More than 1,000 shops function at Valparai. Following the COVID-19 lockdown that came into place on March 23, the timings for shops have been changed and many restrictions came into place. When the spread of COVID-19 came under control, the shops began to function from 6 AM to 8 PM.

Now with the spread of COVID-19 on the rise in TN, the Traders' Association of Valparai had requested the Tahsildar to permit them to keep their shops open from 7 AM to 5 PM.

In a meeting held at the Valparai Tahsildar's office that was led by Tahsildar Raja and Police Inspector Maheswari, a decision was made to keep the shops open from 7 AM to 5 PM. It was also decided that customers should wear face masks and maintain social distancing.

The traders pointed out that social distancing was not being followed in government buses. The Tahsildar assured that appropriate action would be taken after discussion with the Government Transport Corporation branch Manager.

The meeting was attended by Tahsildar Raja, Police Inspector Maheswari, Traders' Association executives and many traders.
