Coimbatore District Collector conducts inspection at Karumathampatti check post
Coimbatore: As part of COVID-19 preventive measures, Coimbatore District Collector conducted inspection at Karumathampatti check post.
During the inspection, he ordered the RTO to confiscate an overloaded Tirupur-Coimbatore private bus. He also ordered for legal action against the driver and conductor of the bus.
Speaking to the press after the inspection, he said that in accordance with the State's fight against COVID-19, the district administration is undertaking a lot of preventative measures. He said that the district was COVID free for a number of days and new cases started appearing only after the lockdown was partially released and people started arriving from other countries, states and districts.
He said all the returnees are quarantined and the ones found positive have been admitted to the ESI Hospital and a few other private ones. He requested the returnees to come forward themselves for testing.
He asked the people to wear masks and maintain social distancing so that the district can become COVID free very soon. He said that businesses not following the requisite norms have been sealed and that he has instructed officials to be very stringent about this. He requested shop owners to be very vigilant in this regard.
He said that it is mandatory for returnees to hold E-passes and the necessary documents and the violators of this norm would be penalized. He added that the check posts in the district borders are operational around the clock and inspections are conducted with the help of police health, and revenue departments.
He warned that those in home quarantine should strictly adhere to the norms and should never venture out before 14 days.
He concluded saying that if people cooperate with the administration in all their endeavours against Coronavirus, the district would soon become a green zone.
