Chennai: Tamil Nadu recorded a record single-day spike of 2396 on Saturday. This has swiftly escalated the overall COVID-19 tally for the state to 56845.
With the disheartening distinction of the top hotspot for the virus, Chennai registered 1254 positives. Though not as intense as the State Capital, cause for concern is the alarming increase of positives in many districts today.
The State registered 38 COVID-19 deaths today (14 private, 24 govt), taking the toll to 704.
Per the State health bulletin for the day, the Nilgiris and Tirupur districts recorded no new cases today.
On a positive note, 1045 persons were discharged today, after being successfully treated. As of today, the tally of recovered COVID-19 positive cases stands at 31316.
