GRT Jewellery in Gandhipuram was sealed by the Corporation officials today for violation of COVID-19 norms. The store has been functioning with more employees than the COVID-19 ceiling and it was learnt that some of them have been brought from Chennai.
Coimbatore: GRT Jewellery in Gandhipuram was sealed by the Corporation officials today for violation of COVID-19 norms. The store has been functioning with more employees than the recommended COVID-19 ceiling and it was learnt that some of them have been brought from Chennai.
While a complete lockdown is in place in Chennai, the employees from GRT Jewellery in Chennai were brought to Coimbatore to work at their store in Gandhipuram.

Corporation officials and Health department officials who visited the store along with the police conducted investigations and it was revealed that more than 30 employees who worked at the Chennai GRT were at the Coimbatore shop.

Following this, the three floors of the shop were sprayed with disinfectants and the medical team decided to test all the 30 employees who arrived from Chennai.

They are now under quarantine.

The Corporation officials sealed the shop with the help of the police due to its violation of the government-issued guidelines and for operating with more than the recommended number of employees.
